Influence of Dopamine on Motor Learning and Post-Stroke Recovery

Description

The laboratory of Dr. Christian Ethier is currently recruiting graduate students (PhD) and postdocs for a research project to study the influence of dopamine centers on motor learning and plasticity.

The lab uses a rat model of stroke and studies fine forelimb motor control. We use optogenetic stimulation, fiber photometry and electrophysiological (single units, LFPs) recordings to study 1- how reward-related dopaminergic centers guide plasticity in motor circuits and 2- how neuronal stimulation can contribute to the recovery of motor functions. Our methods include both biological signal analyzes and neuroanatomical observations to reveal the neural mechanisms involved.
