PhD studies on antibacterial and osseointegration capacities of dental implants surface modifications


The goal of this project is to improve the clinical performance of titanium dental implants by designing, developing and validating new multifunctional layers, which will be both promoting osseointegration and be antibacterial. This project will include, among other, microbiology (bacterial culture), cell biology (cell culture), molecular analyzes (DNA and RNA extraction, RT-qPCR) and immunoassays (ELISA) techniques. This project is carried out in collaboration with the University of Namur in Belgium (Wallonia). An internship in Belgium is planned.

Oral Ecology Research Group (GREB)

The Oral Ecology Research Group (GREB) is a research group located at the Faculty of Dentistry at Université Laval. It contributes to the preservation of oral health and to the prevention of consequences of oral diseases on general health and quality of life. GREB researchers train the next generation of scientists in the field of biomedical research (microbiology, immunology, virology, phage biology, molecular biology, tissue engineering and biomaterials), dental research (periodontal and endodontic infections, candidiasis) and oral care.

The Laboratory for Biomaterials and Bioengineering (LBB), Faculty of Science and Engineering of Université Laval, has for mission to promote excellence in scientific research in bioengineering and biomaterials, to foster integration of basic, applied and clinical sciences, and apply a truly multidisciplinary approach toward bioengineering and to facilitate the translation of that science to healthcare and clinical practice.
