Optimization of smart traps for leafhopper management
Description
The LeafHope grant projects will help to better understand leafhoppers as a pest insect and the diseases they transmit in different crops across Canada. The projects will help to establish strategies to reduce the use of synthetic insecticides in light of the expansion of their range due to climate change. The master's student will be responsible for optimizing and implementing sticky traps equipped with cameras (smart traps) for the real-time remote identification of leafhoppers in fields.
