Research project

Deciduous forests silviculture: Effect of different selection cutting intensities on maple syrup yield

Description

The aim of this project is to compare maple syrup yields at the stand level in maple stands treated with different selection cuts. To achieve this objective, runoff yield data were collected over a ten-year period following the application of different selection cutting intensities. This project will enable us to assess the impact of different silvicultural guidelines on maple syrup potential, in addition to generating knowledge of interest on the potential for reconciling maple syrup production and wood harvesting activities.

Research Field

- Forestry
- Silviculture
- Maple syrup production
