Research project

Vascular and Renal Health in Chronic Hypoparathyroidism

Description

The research team of Claudia Gagnon, endocrinologist and clinician-scientist at the Research Center of CHU de Québec – Université Laval, is seeking a motivated student to undertake a Master's degree in clinical research focusing on hypoparathyroidism, a rare endocrine disease affecting calcium metabolism and leading to several complications, including renal, cardiovascular, and bone complications, which significantly impact patients' quality of life.

The project aims to characterize the profile of renal and vascular complications in participants with chronic hypoparathyroidism in order to improve understanding of the disease's pathophysiology and optimize disease management strategies. The project will take place in a multidisciplinary translational clinical research environment.

Scientific Responsibilities
- Development of the study protocol
- Implementation and management of data collection
- Analysis of real-world clinical data
- Evaluation of renal, metabolic, bone, and other complications
- Writing of a Master's thesis in article format within Université Laval's required timeline

Project Implementation
The student must be enrolled in a Master's program at the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval. The Master's program must be completed in Quebec City, primarily in person at the CHU de Québec Research Center – Université Laval (CHUL site).

Research Field

- Chronic hypoparathyroidism
- Clinical research
